Mr. Kimball founded Windswept Capital in early 2023. As a petroleum geologist, he has focused his career on the oil and gas industry for 20 years. He founded Windswept Royalties in 2010, an upstream minerals and royalty company and has grown the company through more than $125mm in acquisitions to be a perpetual mineral acquisition and operating platform. In 2019-2020, he was part of the restructuring team that successfully brought Sanchez Oil and Gas through a tumultuous bankruptcy, which included overseeing a complex operation of 435,000 gross acres with ~2,200 operated wells. Through that endeavor, he continued to expand his network within the industry and gained valuable experience that is directly applicable to the strategy of acquiring and managing minerals and royalties and other oil and gas assets. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kimball worked for various E&P companies, both in-house and as a consultant, including BP and Swift Energy, with technical and practical experience both on and offshore North America. He has also consulted for numerous private equity firms, including Riverstone, on technical geological and geophysical projects, M&A, restructuring, and deal assessment projects.
Mr. Kimball serves on the Board of the American Swiss Foundation (since 2020) and as a Trustee of Kent School, in Kent CT (since 2017), serving as the Chair of the Kent School Investment Committee (since 2022) overseeing $130 million of endowed funds.
Mr. Kimball holds a BA in Geology from Washington and Lee University, a Masters in Petroleum Geology from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MBA from the Acton School of Business.
